Facebook released its map of MLB fan locations on Wednesday, with the newest data showing a steady border between Orioles country and Nationals territory outside of Washington, D.C., with just one northern Virginia county switching its allegiance from Baltimore to Washington.
According to the map, all Maryland counties but Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Charles County and Garrett County lean Orioles orange. Montgomery, Prince George's and Charles support the Nationals while, out west, Garrett leans toward a different National League team—the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Nationals gained several counties from the New York Yankees, who are the favorite team of nearly all of Virginia, but just one from the Orioles — Shenandoah County.
The Orioles also picked up Sussex County in Delaware, giving them a majority of fans in counties in five different states — Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Facebook bases the maps off which team's official page has the most "likes" in each county.
We've screen-grabbed two zoomed-in versions to focus on the Mid-Atlantic, and while it's not as in-depth as the zip code generated map of last summer, it's still a good representation of just how far your fellow fans reach.
Another zip code map, however, might tell whether the Nationals fanbase is growing in Orioles-controlled areas.
