Dave Pietramala will miss Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse game vs. Syracuse on Saturday

Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse head coach Dave Pietramala during a game in which Princeton defeated Johns Hopkins 16-15 in overtime last season at Homewood Field.

Coach Dave Pietramala will not be on the sideline of Saturday's showdown between No. 3 Syracuse and No. 8 Johns Hopkins at 4 p.m. at Homewood Field in Baltimore because of an infection in his lower back, the university announced Saturday afternoon.

In an email distributed at 1 p.m., the school said the infection surfaced earlier in the week and has limited Pietramala's mobility. Therefore, the 16th-year coach will sit out the game between the Orange (5-0) and the Blue Jays (3-2).

Associate head coach Bill Dwan will lead the Blue Jays in Pietramala's place. Dwan, a 1991 Johns Hopkins graduate, has been on Pietramala's staff since the university hired Pietramala before the 2001 campaign.
