- The Orioles return from a successful road trip in Boston and Toronto on a high note, pushing across 11 runs in a win over Toronto.
- In other Orioles' news, Manny Machado makes his first rehab start tonight at Frederick, with an eye towards next weekend for a big-league return. If you plan on going, call in advance. Keys staff said last night, when Branden Kline had an impressive performance on the mound, that tickets were nearly gone for tonight's game.
- UFC 172 is just a day away, with the public weigh-in scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today at altimore Arena. Yesterday's media day was relatively tame, save for Phil Davis throwing all kinds of shade at Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Of course, the two aren't fighting each other Saturday, but that's not the point. Jones, the brother of former Raven Arthur Jones, said he expects that hometown connection to be an advantage.
- Michael Phelps swam competitively yesterday for the first time since London, but lost the final of the 100m butterfly to rival Ryan Lochte.
Playoffs?
- The Los Angeles Kings stayed alive with a 6-3 win over San Jose, but still trail the Sharks 3-1. An overtime winner in Detroit gave the Bruins a 3-1 series lead over the Red Wings, and the Wild held Colorado to just 12 shots on goal in a 2-1 win that leveled the series at 2-2.
- Things were a little more interesting in basketball, as two top seeds, Indiana and Oklahoma City, each fell behind 2-1 in their respective series with losses Thursday night. The Clippers also took a 2-1 lead over Golden State.
Crime and punishment
- Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was suspended for 10 games because of his pine tar incident Wednesday in Boston, meaning he'll miss one start.
- A Dodger fan ran onto the field last night and appeared to make it off the field without security catching him. I doubt he made it much farther, but don't do that in Baltimore. Adam Jones does not take kindly to intruders.
