Ivy League

Favorite: Cornell The Big Red (10-2) can secure the league's regular-season title and the right to host the tournament with a win at Brown this week or against Princeton on April 27 in the Konica Minolta Big City Classic in East Rutherford, N.J. Led by Rob Pannell (27, 36), Cornell is No. 6 in the RPI and has one of the scariest first lines in the country. Contenders: Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Penn Princeton (7-4) hurt itself with a loss last week to Dartmouth, the first time all season the Tigers were held to single digits in goals. Tom Schreiber sets the tone on offense, but the Tigers' young defense is suspect. Yale (8-3) has won five straight, and its three losses are by a combined four goals. The Bulldogs are looking to ride the wave of the school's NCAA title in men's ice hockey. Harvard (6-6) has improved dramatically since a 16-7 loss on March 26 to Albany. Penn (6-4) is capable, owning wins over Duke, Lehigh, Villanova and Princeton. The Quakers, have a strong strength of schedule and a No. 9 RPI but have lost three of their past four. One of the contenders won't make the league tournament.
