The St. Louis Browns move to Baltimore (1954)

Legendary baseball showman Bill Veeck, facing the bleak prospect of trying to compete for fans with the more popular and better-financed St. Louis Cardinals, agreed to sell the Browns to a Baltimore group headed by attorney Clarence Miles, bringing major league sports back to Charm City for the first time in more than a half-century.
