AP ranking: No. 2 Record: 3-0 Result: Defeated No. 14 Oklahoma, 45-24 Last week: No. 1 Up next: vs. Rutgers (2-1) on Oct. 1 The Buckeyes entered the season as the most inexperienced team in the nation according to Phil Steele’s rankings, but through three games, Ohio State looks like it’s going to breeze through the conference on its way to the College Football Playoff. And really, that’s not a surprise, as Vegas gave the Buckeyes the second-best odds to win the national championship. Still, for a team that lost three first-round NFL draft picks to walk into Norman on a Saturday night and do whatever they wanted against the Sooners’ defense, finishing with 443 total yards (291 rushing), is impressive. The defense had two interceptions, including one returned 68 yards for a touchdown, and the Buckeyes didn’t commit a turnover. They were incredibly efficient on both sides of the ball, averaging 6.33 points every time they had a drive that crossed the Sooners' 40, while the defense held the Sooners to just 3.4 points per scoring opportunity. In the Big Ten, Ohio State is just too skilled to be seriously threatened, as Noah Brown’s highlight-reel touchdown catch over the back of a defender showed. (Scott Halleran)
