Baltimore native Will Barton is using his influence as an NBA player to call city youth, leaders, and residents to Druid Hill's Cloverdale Park for a conversation and block party that he said the city needs.
Barton, a former Memphis star who averaged 11 points per game this season after a mid-season trade to Denver in February, used his Instagram account to call people to the park and away from the violent demonstrations of the last 24 hours over the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died last Sunday after suffering injuries following his arrest a week earlier.
Barton, who starred at Lake Clifton, invited coaches and pastors to bring their teams and youth group, and said McDonalds would be donating food.
