Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver and his wife, Kristin, honored Weaver's late teammate and good friend Nick Adenhart by naming their newborn son Aden David Weaver, according to several reports.
Aden, born Friday, weighed 8 pounds and he was 21 inches long. Weaver and Adenhart came up through the Angels' minor-league system together.
Adenhart of Williamsport, a small town in Western Maryland, and two friends died April 9, 2009, on their way to a nightclub when the car they were riding in was struck by a minivan driven through a red light in Fullerton, Calif.
Just 22 years old when he was killed, Adenhart was one of the Angels' top prospects and had made is his first start of the 2009 season just before the fatal accident.
Orioles starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez was also a good friend of Adenhart's and has used a glove given to him by Adenhart.
