In its first season in the Big Ten Conference, regular-season champion Maryland dominated the all-conference women's lacrosse selections with eight players, while four others who played high school lacrosse in the Baltimore area also made the team.
Taylor Cummings, the McDonogh graduate who won last season's Tewaaraton Award, leads a Terps contingent that includes Brooke Griffin (South River), Megan Douty, Alice Mercer (Century), Zoe Stukenberg (Marriotts Ridge), Alex Fitzpatrick, Casey Pepperman (McDonogh) and Megan Whittle (McDonogh).
Also named to the team were Penn State's Maggie McCormick (Liberty), Abby Smucker (C. Milton Wright) and Madison Cyr (Winters Mill) along with Ohio State's Katie Chase (Glenelg).
Ten of the players on the 20-woman team were selected as position players with 10 more at-large selections.
The No. 1 and defending national champion Terps (17-0) won the Big Ten regular-season championship and are top seeded for the tournament. In Friday's 8 p.m. semifinal at Rutgers, they will meet the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal between Ohio State and Rutgers.
