Mychal Givens: 24

Mychal Givens’ electric outing in extra innings was made more impressive by the fact that he retired all three lefties he faced—two by strikeouts—even though left-handed hitters entered the game batting .524/.583/.762 off him. However, no reliever has struck out more than 24 right-handed batters, as Givens has this season. His delivery has proven near-impossible for righties to pick up, made more difficult by his three-pitch mix, with all of the pitches moving out of the same arm slot. Righties are batting .118 off him this season, and aren’t putting the ball in play, which helps him when opponents have runners on in high-leverage situations like they did when he entered in the 10th with two men on and two outs Tuesday.
