Ravens kicker Justin Tucker missed two of his four field goal attempts in a very uncharacteristic performance on Sunday, but said afterward he was not going to lose any sleep over it.
"I don't really think about it that way,'' he said. "We won. We got the job done. At the end of the day, for today, we are 1-0. It wasn't pretty, and from my end it wasn't pretty, but I'm still going to feel pretty good laying my head on the pillow tonight knowing that I left it out there. I didn't just slap at it. It's not like I wasn't focused, I just missed two balls. It is what it is."
Neither miss was unforgivable. Both were from 54 yards out and neither was a perfect situation. The snap was high on one near the end of the first half and the Ravens were called for a delay of game penalty as he lined up to try a 49-yarder in the fourth quarter. After the five yards were paced off, he banged the try off the left upright.
Coming into the game, Tucker had not missed a field goal attempt since he had a 64-yard attempt blocked against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct 12. He has missed a career-high five this season, the other two coming against the Bengals in the season opener and the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.
Tucker missed only three attempts in each of the previous two seasons, but did have one other game in which he missed twice -- last year's second game of the season against the Cleveland Browns. He has missed just 11 out of 106 attempts in his career for an 89.6 percent success rate.
