The Orioles waited a long time for Jake Arrieta to emerge as a front-line starting pitcher, and they probably traded him to the National League to make sure they wouldn't have to see him much after he did.
They finally ran into him at Wrigley Field on Friday and saw the guy they always hoped he would be. Now with the Chicago Cubs, Arrieta handled the pressure of trying to prove himself to his old club and showed the command that was never consistent during his earlier years in Baltimore.
Good for him. He has battled through a lot to establish himself, proving that the Orioles' original scouting reports on him were correct. This is one of those cases where a change of scenery and new start really does make a difference.
