Adam Jones pulls out of slump at just the right time

Orioles center fielder Adam Jones was mired in an 0-for-18 slump less than 24 hours ago, but you'd never know it now. When he singled off Phillies starter Cliff Lee to start the Orioles' brief two-out rally in the first inning Sunday, it was his third consecutive hit -- including, of course, his dramatic walk-off homer in the 12th inning Saturday.

His bat got back just in time. The Orioles need all the offense they can get right now, as they try to kill a little more time to get some injured players back. It appears that Brian Roberts will make his 2012 debut on Tuesday night against the Pirates -- barring any last-minute setback -- which could add a bit more cohesiveness to the offensive attack.

Manager Buck Showalter would not speculate Sunday whether Roberts will move right into the leadoff spot or whether he'll spend his first few games in the DH role, but if he's anything close to the hitter he was before the year he spend recovering from a pair of concussions, he'll have a big impact on the lineup.
