You will recall our article on Sept. 8 that highlighted Gabi Redford and her qualifying for the world championships. She has returned from Europe where she did extremely well competing for Triathlon Team USA, ending up 12th of 95 in her age group and the third American.
It certainly helped that she was fourth out of the water on the opening leg of the Olympic distance course. A strong bike effort followed, which was capped by her setting a personal best time in the ending 10K run (45:05). Doing so well against athletes from around the world bodes well for her future endeavors. I can say there is something about doing well in your early 50s. Setting PRs at that age will boost her confidence that she can improve her times as she prepares for the August 2018 World Championships to be held in the Gold Coast, Australia.
