$10 admission to Butterfly World's 30th anniversary celebration on March 3-4

Celebrate Butterly World's 30th anniversary with cheap admission over the next two weekends.

Get in for $10 on  March 3-4 to celebrate the venerable attraction's 1988 opening inside Tradewind's Park at 3600 W. Sample Road in Coconut Creek.

Admission normally costs $29.95 and $21.95 for children 3-11.

The first 50 visitors on each day get a free tote bag and there will be drawings for jewelry, T-shirts, butterfly cases and other goodies. Members also receive 20 percent off in the gift shop.

The world's largest butterfly park's future is in question.  The attraction is negotiating a new lease with Broward County and is asking the public to attend a county commission meeting to show support at 10 a.m. on Feb. 27 at the Broward County Governmental Center at 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.  RSVP to the meeting by clicking here.  "Unfortunately, we must report to you that we are at an impasse in these negotiations due to substantially increased financial terms and conditions that we cannot approve," according to a news release.  The operator says that without a renewed lease, Butterfly World may not be able to continue operations.

"Butterfly World has never taken public funds, and has in fact, invested heavily in park improvements, as well as generated millions for Broward County in paid park fees, promotions and tourism," according to news release making a public appeal for support. "To us, it is more important to maintain our culture of excellent service and responsible stewardship, investing funds back into the park to expand and improve every year, than to continue in a diminished capacity and disappoint you, our customers and friends."  Go to ButterflyWorld.com for more information.
