Doctor Who gets a new look with Peter Capaldi

Doc Martens are cool--I've always thought so. And now Doctor Who has confirmed it.

The 12th Doctor's new look was unveiled Monday by BBC America, which released the above photo of Peter Capaldi in costume. "Doctor Who" costume designer Howard Burden created the look that includes a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, white shirt and black Doc Martens.

"He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord," Capaldi said in a release.

The new Time Lord will return when Season 8 of "Doctor Who" debuts later this year. Filming on the upcoming season, which also stars Jenna Coleman as companion Clara, is currently underway in Cardiff.

"New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over—Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you,"  lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat said.
