Stevenson students participate in track and field meet

Michael Skaro, a Stevenson University track and field team member from Reisterstown, broke his school's record in the triple jump at the Crusader Classic, a track and field meet held by Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania Feb. 6.

The sophomore took third place overall, and beat his previous record by landing a jump of 13.02 meters.

Stevenson Women's track and field member TaKera Smalley, of Owings Mills, also participated at the event.

Residents compete at Susquehanna Invitational

Stevenson University track and field team member TaKera Smalley, of Owings Mills, competed in the Susquehanna Invitational at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., Feb. 14.

Stevenson's women's track and field team broke three records while competing in the invitational. Smalley participated in one such record-breaking performance, which was put on by the 4x200-meter relay team of Josephine Adutwum, Monee Hill, Christyna Falden and Smalley.

Her relay team set new standards with a time of 1:51.34 and placed fifth out of 15 teams at the event.

Stevenson University men's track team member Michael Skaro, from Reisterstown, also competed in the Susquehanna Invitational. Skaro completed the 800-meter run in 2:12.28.

Students named to dean's list for fall semester

Jamal Jefferson, of Owings Mills, was named to the dean's list at Fairleigh Dickinson University, in Teaneck, N.J., for the fall 2014 semester.

Rebeka Holt, of Owings Mills, was named to the dean's list at the University of Memphis for the fall 2014 semester.

Thomas McShane, from Reisterstown, was named to the dean's list at Bentley University, in Waltham, Mass., for the fall 2014 semester.

The following students were named to the dean's list at Loyola University, in Baltimore, for the fall 2014 semester: Joseph Cahalan, from Reisterstown; Stavros Rizakos, from Reisterstown; Brandy Gotti, from Owings Mills; and Jennifer Harmon, from Reisterstown.
