To protect the health of elementary school children and their families and communities, Baltimore County Public Schools is partnering with the Maryland Partnership for Prevention and the Baltimore County Department of Health to offer the nasal spray flu vaccine FluMist to all elementary school students.

The Title I FluMist program will begin Oct. 9 and run through early November. The expanded FluMist program, in non-Title I elementary schools, will begin around Oct. 23.

Parents will be asked to sign a permission form for the vaccination and to provide information about any insurance they might have. The FluMist involves no out-of-pocket cost to parents — no deductible or copay — thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
