Orioles manager Buck Showalter kicks off BCPS speaker series
The Baltimore County Public Schools Business Advisory Council is starting a new speaker series program as part of an effort to reach out to the school community as well as regional business leaders and groups.
The first program will feature Orioles manager Buck Showalter as guest speaker and will be held at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, at 938 York Road in Towson, at 7 p.m. Jan. 26.
About 250 tickets were made available to the public on http://www.bcps.org Jan 10. Attendance is free, but a ticket is required for admission. Those who cannot make it to the event can watch it via live-stream on BCPS-TV — Comcast Cable Channel 73 and Verizon FiOS Channel 34 in Baltimore County — and on the BCPS website at http://www.bcps.org/video/liveStream.html. Additional speakers for the series will be announced later.
Franklin High School to hold Jazz Night
Franklin High School, at 12000 Reisterstown Road in Reisterstown, is presenting its annual Jazz Night in the school auditorium Jan. 28.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature Rich Rice Legacy Blues in the Night Orchestra, the Franklin High School Jazz Band and the Franklin Middle School Jazz Band.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
