The following fiction and nonfiction titles will be available at Baltimore County Public Library as of May 3.

"Project Puffin" by Stephen Kress


Puffins were nearly extinct in Maine when a massive effort began to bring them back. Now they number about 1,000 pairs. This well-researched book will appeal to birders, nature lovers and armchair travelers alike.

"John Hughes" by Kirk Honeycutt

Most everyone who grew up in the '80s or '90s has a soft spot for at least one of Hughes' iconic teen movies. Filled with behind-the-scenes photographs and stories, this big book will thrill his fans.

"Miss Carter's War" by Sheila Hancock

Young Marguerite leaves her native France to become a teacher in England just after World War II. Follow Marguerite's life and loves for the next 50 years in this novel with a big focus on aging and change.

"This Is How It Really Sounds" by Stuart Archer Cohen

One man's a rock star who has lost his fortune, thanks to another man who was his broker and made a bad investment. Both men are named Pete Harrington. This clever, darkly comic novel explores how they intertwine with their lives' various ups and downs.
