Newest titles at the BCPL

The following fiction and nonfiction titles will be available at Baltimore County Public Library as of March 8.

"Tomorrow Is My Turn" by Rhiannon Giddens


Rhiannon Giddens made her name with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and came to greater prominence with her work on "The New Basement Tapes," the reworking of Bob Dylan songs by a supergroup. Now she has her first solo CD to showcase her powerful voice.

"The Slap" by Christos Tsiolkas


Originally published in the U.S. in 2010, this book is getting new attention thanks to the new NBC series. The original was set in Melbourne, but the story and characterization remain the same in the series. Also available in e-book.

"A Memory of Violets" by Hazel Gaynor

In this work of historical fiction, two orphaned little girls sell flowers for a living in 1870s London. They get separated and are unable to find each other until some clues appear nearly 40 years later.

"H Is for Hawk" by Helen MacDonald

When her father dies, bird lover MacDonald is inspired by T. S. Eliot and decides to try to train a goshawk to bury her grief. This work is a combination of memoir and nature writing.
