Craving some cupcakes from Icedgems

Located in the midst of historic Main Street Reisterstown is a small shop that holds big things. Just across from the ski shop and next to the Cow is a white building with pink polka dots. That is the store front and baking center for Icedgems.

Icedgems opened in Reisterstown a few years ago. They took over the location and painted the building white with large pink polka dots. But that's not all. They have a number of vans and trucks that go all over the place selling these outstanding cupcakes.

When I first saw this place getting ready to open I thought, "oh cupcakes, OK," thinking about the ho-hum cupcakes my mom used to make us for school events. Even though I went past the building daily, I never once had the desire to stop in. Then a few years ago I was attending the ROMG Chamber of Commerce's Taste of the Town. One of the most popular vendors that night was the Icedgems booth. Why? They were serving bite-sized chocolate cake cupcake balls filled with peanut butter and covered in chocolate ganache. Can you save heaven? That evening they also were serving pink champagne bite-sized cupcakes. I knew instantly my first thoughts had been wrong.

Icedgems quickly became one of my favorite places along Main Street. Since that evening I have sent dozens of folks to the store to get cupcakes for all sorts of occasions.

Icedgems makes over 25 different flavors of cupcakes every day except Sunday and Monday when they are closed. They send out their vans loaded with the more than 25 delicious flavors of hand-baked and hand-decorated cupcakes every day Tuesday through Saturday to such places as The Rotunda in Baltimore, John's Hopkins Hospital, Hunt Valley, Downtown Baltimore business district and many other locations. One of the coolest things they do is frequently post on their Facebook page where their vans will be and what times they will be there.

With 48 hours notice Icedgems will make you whatever kind of cupcakes you want from their extensive list of flavors. They are all hand-spooned into the cupcake papers and hand decorated and then packaged for you so that they will not be damaged in transportation.

Icedgems also does wedding cakes, birthday cakes, graduation cakes, anniversary celebrations cakes — you name it, their team of talented "artists" will prepare it for you. You can check out their website at

They do a pink breast cancer cupcake every October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month — this is just one of their amazing specialty cupcakes.

Icedgems uses only the very best base ingredients of flour, sugar, butter, free range eggs and organic milk, and they use local farmers whey they can as well.

Icedgems has also made some pretty amazing cookies.

Icedgems is open 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. The store front is located at 213 Main St. in Reisterstown. I promise you won't be able to leave with just one cupcake.
