Baltimore Humane Society to hold holiday event
The Baltimore County Humane Society will hold a Holiday Lights Open House from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 14. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to take a picture of their animal and/or child with Santa or a menorah for a nominal fee. There will also be school choruses, a bake sale and a giving tree, as well as a lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. It will take place at the Humane Society at 1601 Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown.
CCBC Foundation to host open house
The CCBC Foundation will host its annual Holiday Lights community open house from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 6. The event will take place in the historic Hilton Mansion on the CCBC Catonsville campus at 800 S. Rolling Road. Activities for children and adults will be offered at the open house, including face painting, craft stations, balloon art and a visit by Santa and Santa's elves. Participants will also be able to watch a celestial show at noon in the Banneker Planetarium, which is located in the laboratory building on the Catonsville campus. Light refreshments will be offered. Due to the historical nature of the Hilton Mansion, it is not currently handicapped accessible.

Red Cross calls for blood donations
The American Red Cross is asking for eligible donors to give a blood donation this holiday season. Donors with all types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative.
