Cromwell Valley Park to hold bird counting event

Cromwell Valley Park, at 2002 Cromwell Bridge Road in Baltimore, will hold The Great Backyard Bird Count from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 14.

During the program, participants will be able to collect data, look for birds and find ways to assist the winged creatures. It is open to all ages. The adult bird walk at 9 a.m. is free. At 10 a.m., participants can build a blue bird box at $15 per box. A free children's bird walk will take place at noon, and participants will be able to make bird treats for free at 1 p.m.

Reservations are not required.

The program will take place at Willow Grove Nature Education Center at the park.

CCBC music forum to be held

The Community College of Baltimore County will host The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Student Jazz Ensemble as part of its Friday Music Forum at its Essex campus at 12:20 p.m. Feb. 6.

The concert will take place in Arts and Humanities Hall in Recital Hall on the campus at 7201 Rossville Blvd. in Baltimore.

The program is free; no tickets or reservations are required.

Ristorante Firenze to hold pre-grand opening fundraiser

Ristorante Firenze, at 2 Hanover Road in Reisterstown, is holding a pre-grand opening fundraiser from 4 to 11 p.m. Feb. 11. Participants will have the opportunity to sample the restaurant's cuisine before its grand opening Feb. 12.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Reisterstown, Owings Mills and Glyndon volunteer fire departments.
