Sampling the fare of one of Reisterstown's newest additions

One of three highly anticipated new restaurants has opened in Reisterstown. I'm speaking, of course, of Main Street Grille.

The building at 75 Main St. has been the topic of many local rumors for months now, and I'd be remiss for not addressing some of them.

75 Main St. was the former home of Martha & Mary's, which closed up last year. The property was purchased last spring at public auction by Grant Pivec, the current owner and manager of Main Street Grille.

The building was completed in the early 1970s to house a Friendly's restaurant, and by 2014 it was in desperate need of some sprucing up. Pivec and his team completed a number of renovations, including painting the exterior a glossy black and white, and restyling the interior with vintage-style wood floors, wooden tables and new wall coloring, all of which add a nostalgic feel to the place. The light-color flooring and many open windows really have brightened up the place.

Main Street Grille is a casual, family-oriented restaurant. Children's meals are just $4.99, and include a kid-size beverage. The children's menu offers macaroni and cheese, a hamburger, chicken fingers, a hot dog and a pizza slice. Each meal is served with chips, applesauce and a drink.

For the adults, Main Street Grille offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast options include combos in three varieties: two eggs served any style with two meats, home fries and choice of toast for $7.99; two eggs served any style with two pancakes or French toast and home fries for $6.99; and two eggs served any style with two pancakes, two meats and home fries for $7.99. The restaurant offers a range of omelettes, including cheese, classic western, veggie, and meat lover's. You also have the option of ordering an omelette made with egg whites. All of their omelettes are made with three eggs and served with home fries and toast. Of course, the restaurant offers breakfast staples like French toast and pancakes, as well. One unique menu item is the ciabatta sandwich, which is a breakfast sandwich with meat, egg and cheese on ciabatta bread. My favorite item, though, is the breakfast pizza.

The breakfast pizza is a 10-inch or 14-inch pizza crust basted with butter and topped with scrambled eggs, provolone cheese, white cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese. You can get specialty breakfast pizzas in a range of varieties, too, or you can build your own. All breakfast items are served all day.

Lunch and dinner fare include jumbo wings served in your choice of hot, honey, Old Bay or Cajun seasoning. Main Street Grille offers salads, soups and awesome sandwiches such as the Main St. French dip, a chicken cheese steak, a classic Reuben, a seafood club, and a meatball grinder.

The menu also features a selection of "full plates," which range in dishes from meatloaf to liver and onions. And the pizza doesn't just come in breakfast varieties. Main Street Grille offers 10-inch, 14-inch and 18-inch pizzas that feature a wide range of toppings, from the traditional cheese to the not-so-traditional crab and shrimp dip.

Main Street Grille is a BYOB facility, meaning you may bring your favorite adult beverage in with you to enjoy with your meal.

I've had lunch there twice since they opened in January, and date night dinner with my honey once. I have enjoyed a delicious bacon cheeseburger, a Grille jumbo hot dog, and the hot turkey dinner. All were yummy and served by friendly and courteous staff members.

Main Street Grille is open Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
