In a Feb 4. special primary, voters in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Howard County chose nominees for a special general election to replace the late U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings for the 7th Congressional District. The Democratic nominee is Kweisi Mfume and the Republican nominee is Kimberly Klacik.

Kweisi Mfume took a major step toward reclaiming the Baltimore-area U.S. House seat he held for 10 years, capturing the Democratic nomination to succeed his longtime friend, the powerful Elijah Cummings.

Kimberly Klacik, whose videos of West Baltimore spurred President Donald Trump to call Maryland’s 7th Congressional District “disgusting,” won a special Republican primary to fill the seat Tuesday.
