President Barack Obama will visit a construction company in Rockville on Thursday to discuss the impact the government shutdown is having on businesses.

Obama is expected to visit M. Luis Construction, a Baltimore-based company that is one the state's largest minority-owned contractors. The resurfacing company did $7.5 million in contracting business with the state of Maryland last year.

A company spokeswoman declined to comment on Thursday.

"The president will highlight the impacts that a shutdown and default would have on our economy and our nation's small businesses," White House spokesman Jay Carney said. "The president will urge Congress to do its job."
