Marylanders will now have the option to choose “X” for their gender on driver’s licenses and state identification cards, in addition to the choices of “M” for male and “F” for female. Hundreds of new laws go into effect in Maryland on Oct. 1, from a small but important tweak to driver’s licenses to a bill of rights for hospital patients.
