Bail for the woman accused of dumping a liquid on Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was reduced from $50,000 to $2,500 today.
Lacheisa Pailin-Sheffer, 37, was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct Saturday for allegedly pouring what appeared to be water on Rawlings-Blake as she greeted residents at the Mondawmin Festival.
"This is a more appropriate bail," Pailin-Sheffer's lawyer Roland S. Harris said.
Harris said Pailin-Sheffer had no prior history of stalking or harassment and he declined to discuss why she dumped liquid on Rawlings-Blake. Her trial is scheduled for Aug. 13.
After the incident, aides rushed to the mayor to help her dry off while a member of her executive protection unit grabbed the woman and placed her in handcuffs.
When asked later about the incident, Rawlings-Blake said, "I didn't know what it was that she threw at me. I hope it was water. It was more shocking than anything else."
Pailin-Sheffer appeared via a video link and did not make any statements.
Judge Flynn Owens said Pailin-Sheffer is to have pre-trial supervision and no contact with the complaining witness.
