West Baltimore community leaders and City Councilman William "Pete" Welch plan to hold a prayer vigil Friday for Gov. Larry Hogan, who is battling cancer.
Welch said community leader Kenny Ebron will lead a prayer vigil of residents of West Baltimore's 9th district. The vigil will take place on Friday at 5 p.m. in front of City Hall.
City Republicans also announced a vigil to take place Thursday in West Baltimore. The service will be at Sharon Baptist Church in Sandtown-Winchester from 7 to 9 p.m.
On Monday, Hogan announced he has an "aggressive" form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The governor said he would be undergoing an 18-week treatment program.
"Councilman Welch and Mr. Ebron want to demonstrate their concern and support for the governor during this challenging time," says a news release from Welch's office.
