Royal Farms Arena named top-grossing venue of its size in U.S.

Royal Farms Arena has planned an impressive concert lineup for 2016, but it seems like 2015 wasn't too bad, either. The venue ranks first in the U.S. in gross ticket sales among venues its size this year, according to Billboard Magazine.

The Baltimore venue, which seats 14,000, grossed over $16.8 million over 80 concerts between Nov. 12, 2014, and Nov. 9 of this year, according to Billboard. That amount was good for first in the country and ninth worldwide among venues that seat between 10,000 and 15,000.

SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, was first globally among venues in this size category, grossing $63.3 million.

The honor comes as the arena is anticipating one of its best music lineups in years. The 2016 schedule includes concerts by Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Janet Jackson, Maroon 5 and others.

In 2015, the venue hosted concerts by Prince, Motley Crue, the Eagles and Stevie Wonder.
