Gov. Martin O'Malley will deliver remarks in New Hampshire this fall at a dinner for the state Democratic Party, his first trip to the important presidential primary state in about a year.

O'Malley, who was already scheduled to travel extensively this fall, including to Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, will now add a Jefferson Jackson dinner in November for New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan. O'Malley campaigned for Hassan during his last trip to the state, in October 2012.

The Maryland governor is the finance chair of the Democratic Governors Association and his trips correspond with governors races underway in other states. But the events will also raise O'Malley's profile as he contemplates a run for president in 2016. New Hampshire holds the nation's first presidential primary.

"He looks forward to talking about the better choices he's made and the better results he's achieved in Maryland and to rallying the base for Governor Hassan's and Senator [Jeanne] Shaheen's re-election campaigns in 2014," O'Malley spokeswoman Lis Smith said in a statement.
