Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller endorsed Anthony G. Brown for the 4th Congressional District on Wednesday.
Brown, the former lieutenant governor, is "the most qualified candidate in this race and his experience will be an asset in Congress," Miller, a Calvert County Democrat, said in a statement released by the Brown campaign.
The endorsement comes a day after Brown released a new campaign video that features his wife, Karmen -- portraying a more personal side of the candidate than was generally seen during his unsuccessful run for governor in 2014. The campaign has said the ad will air on broadcast media in Washington, and a review of public files showed a three-day buy on WRC-TV next week.
Brown is running against former Prince George's County State Attorney Glenn Ivey, who went on the air with his own ad this week, Del. Joseline Peña-Melnyk, Warren Christopher and Terence Strait. The 4th District, currently held by Rep. Donna F. Edwards includes portions of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties and is considered safe for Democrats in the general election.
