BALTIMORE — Gov. Larry Hogan is back in Annapolis Friday after completing his second round of chemotherapy for treatment of cancer.
Hogan was at the governor's mansion as of midday after being released from the University of Maryland Hospital late Thursday, said spokeswoman Erin Montgomery. She said she did not know whether the governor plans to return Friday to the State House, which is across the street.
The governor entered the hospital's Greenebaum Cancer Center Friday for a five-day round of 24-hour chemo to treat his Stage 3 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"He is in really great spirits," Montgomery said. "The doctors are all amazed at how strong he is and how well he's coping with the treatment.
Earlier in the week, Hogan reported on Facebook that its hasn't been easy.
"This experience has been one of the most difficult challenges I have faced in my life," he wrote. "The physical and emotional toll this disease takes, the fear, anxiety, and exhaustion it causes, is indescribable."
On Thursday Hogan thanked Marylanders for their thoughts and prayers.
"Please don't forget all the others out there going through similar fights who need our love, prayers and support as well," he wrote.
Hogan announced the diagnosis June 22. He said that the disease was at an advanced stage but that doctors had assured him that his prognosis was good.
