Gov.-elect Larry Hogan added to his growing Cabinet Tuesday, nominating four men to posts in his new administration.
Hogan picked two former Ehrlich advisers, his campaign treasurer and a career police officer to lead departments in his Republican government, which takes over on Jan. 21.
Alfred W. Redmer, Jr. and George W. Owings III were picked to reprise their roles from the Ehrlich administration by serving as insurance commissioner and secretary of veterans affairs, respectively.
Redmer, a Republican, is a former House minority leader who served a decade in the General Assembly when former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich asked him to join his cabinet in 2003. Hogan called Redmer a long-time friend.
Owings, a Democrat, was a House majority whip and 16-year veteran of the House of Delegates when he joined Ehrlich's cabinet in 2004.
Retired Maryland State Police lieutenant colonel Stephen Moyer was nominated to lead the state's Department of Public Safety, which has been beset by scandal and corruption at the Baltimore City Detention Center. Hogan called Moyer, who spent 24 years in the state police and was a deputy secretary of the Department of Juvenile Services, "a perfect fit" for the public safety job.
