Larry Hogan to campaign for Chris Christie in New Hampshire

Republican Gov. Larry Hogan will make his first campaign appearance for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie this weekend, Christie's campaign announced.

Hogan, who endorsed Christie's presidential bid this summer, will join him in New Hampshire for a leg of a bus tour Saturday near Manchester, then attend a town hall event in Peterborough.

The two became friendly last year when Christie, as chair of the Republican Governors Association, and persuaded donors to get behind what had been considered Hogan's long-shot bid to win the governor's mansion in a reliably Democratic state.

Since then, the pair of Republicans governing blue states have swapped advice and support. Christie introduced Hogan at his inauguration in January and was the first to call to offer Maryland's new governor advice when riots broke out in Baltimore.

Christie has worn a lime green HoganStrong bracelet since Hogan was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in June. Hogan has since gone into remission.

When Hogan endorsed Christie in July, he promised to "go anywhere and do anything." At the time, Christie had fallen toward the back of the pack in the crowded field for the Republican nomination.

Recent polls put Christie in third place in New Hampshire, behind billionaire mogul Donald Trump and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Nationally, however, Christie remains at the back of the pack, polls show. An ABC/Washington Post poll released Tuesday put Christie at 4 percent among Republican primary voters, behind Trump, Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, retired neurosurgen Ben Carson and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
