Democrat John Delaney's campaign for Maryland's 6th Congressional District appears to be without a manager, a potential mid-campaign change that comes about a month before the April 3 primary.
Then again, maybe not.
Asked about rumors Monday that the campaign no longer held manager Max Cummings on staff, Delaney spokesman Will McDonald said only, "We don't have anything to tell you."
Asked who the campaign's current campaign manager is, McDonald said: "I can get back to you."
Cummings has previous experience running campaigns, including for former Democratic Rep. Chris Carney, of Pennsylvania, who lost a bid for a third term in the Republican wave election of 2010.
A shift in campaign staff is not unusual -- particularly in competitive contests such as Maryland's 6th District -- however it is somewhat uncommon for campaigns not to confirm or deny such changes, particularly since Cummings also often handled communications for the campaign.
For instance, Cummings' name frequently appeared atop news releases distributed by the campaign, including one dated Feb. 22 that questioned Delaney's leading opponent, State Sen. Rob Garagiola, over omissions on his state financial disclosure forms.
A press release Monday, about a new Delaney television ad, included only McDonald's name.
Repeated attempts to reach Cummings were not successful.
