Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled to return to Maryland in his third appearance to help GOP nominee Larry Hogan take the governor's mansion, Hogan's campaign announced Monday.
Christie, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, will stump for Hogan at a Glen Burnie diner for a half-hour Tuesday morning.
The popular New Jersey governor has hosted two previous fundraisers for Hogan over the past month, and whipped through a pancake house with Hogan to draw attention the race. All Chrisitie's previous appearances have been in Montgomery County.
Christie has said he considers Maryland's gubernatorial race competitive and vowed to help Hogan, an Anne Arundel businessman, get elected.
With just a week left until Election Day, both Hogan and Democrat Anthony G. Brown are rallying their troops. While Brown holds a modest lead, the race is closer than expected in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 2 to 1.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is scheduled to appear on Brown's behalf at a get-out-the-vote rally at the University of Maryland in College Park on Thursday.
Christie will appear at the Honey Bee Diner on Ritchie Highway at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
