The director of the mayor's office of minority and women-owned business development said Thursday she is stepping down for a new position.

Sharon Pinder, who has been with the city since 2012, said Thursday she will start in March as the president and CEO of the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council, which works with corporations to connect them to minority businesses. Pinder previously served as the governor's special secretary for minority affairs.

"I've thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed my time" with the city, Pinder said via telephone during a meeting of the Baltimore Development Corp.'s board of directors. "I'm proud of all the things we've accomplished."

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake put forward Michael Walton, co-founding principal of the real estate investment and advisory business Tower Hill Atlantic Enterprises LLC, to fill a spot on the board. Walton sits on the board of Catholic Charities and is a founding member and board president of the Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School.
