We've changed platforms to streamline how our readers to upload content from the community, including our weekly Reader SunShots contest.
How do I post my content?
Please go to http://baltimoresun.com/ugc to get started. When you're there, you'll see the welcome screen if you are not logged into the baltimoresun.com site.
If you are already signed in with your baltimoresun.com account, you'll see this.
To upload photos, simply click the "Submit Photos" tab.
You'll need to select the week's Reader SunShots category from the "Topics" dropdown. Don't worry - there will never be more than one SunShots category to choose from - we change this out weekly.
Select the photo you want to upload by clicking on the file selector on the left, or dragging the file from your desktop. By clicking, you can choose to upload from your computer, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram or Picasa.
For best results, use the largest file size possible (not to exceed 100 MB). Photos look best on our site when they are horizontal rather than vertical.
Give your photo a title and a caption, then click "Submit photo."
Are there character limits for titles or captions?
Photo captions must not exceed 240 characters. Photo titles may not exceed 300 characters.
How do I know when my article or photo is visible?
You will receive an email from us with a link to your article or photo when it has passed through our spam filter and is visible to the public. Approved photos can be seen in the respective galleries here.
Is it free to post photos?
Users will be required to create a free account with baltimoresun.com in order to upload photos, articles or events. You can register by clicking "Sign Up" in the upper right corner of Baltimoresun.com, or on the landing page of community.baltimoresun.com.
Will you include my photo in the print edition?
Perhaps! On occasion, we use some photos from Community Contributors in our print editions of Baltimore Sun Media Group newspapers. For SunShots, the winning photo and an honorable mention will be printed in the Sunday Life & Travel section.
How do I edit my submission after it's posted?
To edit, log in to our Community tools. On your home page, you'll see a list of the photos you've submitted. To edit an photo, click on the edit button beneath the title and caption of the photo you wish to edit. When you are satisfied with your changes, hit "Resubmit" at the bottom of the form. You can also change or add a photo on this screen.
Where can I find my photo once it's published?
After you click "Submit," you will see a message at the top of the page that reads, "Your photo was submitted successfully. You will receive an email notification when it is posted." Once it is approved, which may take up to 24 hours during the week, and 48 hours on the weekends, it can be seen in the category's gallery here.
Help! My photo is upside-down/backwards!
If your uploaded photo is displaying incorrectly, we’ll fix it for you as soon as we can. If you think we might have overlooked the incorrect orientation of your image, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I change my display name on articles and photos?
Go to baltimoresun.com/ugc and click on "Edit your public profile" to change the way your display name appears on articles and photos. Please note that your changes will be reflected on new articles and photos only; your previous postings will retain your previous display name.
