As a photojournalist, shooting sports is part of the wide range of assignments we shoot. But Saturday, Dec. 9 was my first Army-Navy game.
It was a long and cold day, with less and ideal weather conditions. My co-worker Paul Gillespie and I arrived at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia early, and started shooting pregame festivities.
The snow got heavier as the day progressed, crowds grew in size, and shooting began to take more time. Digital cameras do not like snow, or cold, so frequent battery changes and foul weather gear are mandatory to keep shooting.
The photo room was full.
Editing images and producing video took time and patience. But, the photos turned out great. I decided black and white would show the essence of the day, and give a timeless look. At the end of the day, tired, wet, and cold — it was all worth it.
