In the first years of the 20th Century, a Baltimore real estate executive and Civil War veteran named Charles Hull gave land for a church in Lansdowne, Baltimore County, dedicated to those who, like himself, fought for the Union. The church, now known as Lansdowne Christian Church, follows Hull's instruction and holds a special service every Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The church, the only one built in dedication to Union veterans, is on the National Register of Historic Places and a landmark on the Maryland Civil War Trail.
