Outgoing Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell points to his family that attended his farewell press conference, inside the Pentagon briefing room. Morrell was named Pentagon Press Secretary on June 18, 2007 and is the chief spokesman for Defense Secretary Robert Gates, the Department of Defense and the United States military. Prior to joining the government, Mr. Morrell served as a White House correspondent for ABC News, where he worked for seven years. He began covering President Bush for the weekend editions of "World News" and "Good Morning America" in April 2003.
