City will hold off on repair of broken water main in Towson until evening hours

Baltimore City Public Works crews have reopened roads and put repairs of an 8-inch water main break in downtown Towson on hold until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, Nov. 1 — as a means to reduce the effect of repairs on the area.

Baltimore City Public Works crews have reopened roads and put repairs of an 8-inch water main break in downtown Towson on hold until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, Nov. 1 — as a means to reduce the effect of repairs on the area.

Baltimore City spokesman Kurt Kocher said in an email that city crews responded to the outage near the corner of Washington Avenue and Bankers Way on Tuesday morning and, after assessing the situation, ultimately decided to leave the water on and delay repairs until after the close of business.

Kocher said in the email that the outage "will impact a lot of people," but that the repairs will happen later to reduce the impact on the area, which includes several businesses, high-rises and Baltimore County offices.
