Early in the second half against host Towson, Dulaney coach Kendra Zeller elected to move senior defender McKenna Bolonda to the frontline to help spark the offense.

Bolonda only played about 10 minutes at forward, but she made her minutes count, scoring two goals less than seven minutes apart to lead Dulaney (5-2) to a 3-1 victory Thursday.

"We dominated the whole time," Bolonda said of the first half in which Dulaney held a 7-0 advantage in shots. "We just had an issue with getting it in. Coach knew I wanted to go (upfront). We just needed some motivation. The first goal I got lit a fire under the team and we just got going."

Bolonda drilled a shot from half way into the 16-yard circle past Towson goalie Megan Pullin (6 saves) to put her team ahead 1-0 three minutes into.

With 15:42 remaining, Bolonda collected a crossing pass from Allie Menzel and knocked the ball into the right corner.

"They really had us on our heels," Towson coach Holly West said. "They were just pounding, pounding us."

After a lackluster first 40 minutes, Towson (3-4) picked up its offense in the final 20 minutes.

Maddie Trbbe scored midway through the half.

But Emily Edington added an insurance goal for the winners in the final minutes to foil a Generals' comeback.
