Arbuthnot cited as College Manor's Citizen of the Year

Congratulations to Donna Arbuthnot, York Manor's Citizen of the Year.

Donna is a gracious and generous person and is always looking for a way to make someone else's day easier and brighter.

She can be seen walking throughout the neighborhood with a smile on her face and her two lovable dogs at her side.

Her closest neighbors around Haddington Road have seen her pitch in to do just about anything, from getting out the grill for the block parties and cooking up a dish to share to shoveling snow.

Donna, the York Manor community considers itself blessed to have you as a friend and neighbor. Many thanks for all you do!

The Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Council flea market is doing a brisk business since it opened in May at its summer location at the Police Athletic League Rec Center on Greenside Drive, adjacent to the Cockeysville Library. The market operates every Sunday.

The library is closed Sundays in the summer, and shoppers are permitted to park on its lot. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact director Judy Murray at 410-252-8272 for more information.

If you'd like to set up a table, cost for a space is $10 and you'll need to bring your own tables and chair. The market will continue through the end of September.

If you are looking for some new and different activities for your children as the days of summer stretch out, the Fire Museum of Maryland, 1301 York Road, Lutherville, has several fun events and activities to entertain the kids.

Stop by at 11 a.m. Wednesdays for crafts, Thursdays for movies and games and Friday for story time.

You can also attend a museum tour, held at noon Wednesdays through Saturdays, with "Firefighter Tom."

All these special activities continue through August, and summer hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information go to http://www.firemuseummaryland.org or call 410-321-7500.

Congratulations to Pat and Ivan Jaramillo of Haddington Road, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 1. What a milestone!

The York Manor Swim Team wrapped up its season last June 13 with a home meet against Stoneleigh Swim Club, followed by the championship meet Monday. On Juy 20, the team was scheduled to celebrate its season with a party at the pool. I'll have more on the season and swimmers next time.

Summer is almost half over already — hope yours has been a great one!
