Cockeysville Black Ice softball team hosts clinic

The Cockeysville-based Black Ice 18-U fast-pitch softball team will host a clinic and scrimmage featuring University of Maryland softball coach Laura Watten Tuesday afternoon.

The clinic and scrimmage will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Warren Park Place in Cockeysville.

Watten will speak on college recruitment and how high school athletes can improve their chances of playing softball in college.

Terrapin shortstop Kathy McLaughlin, a Seton Keough graduate and Arbutus resident, will help coach the local all-star team that is highlighted by Sara Calta (St. Paul's School for Girls), Anna Jensen (Dulaney), Caity Battey (Dulaney), Hannah Thomas (Hereford), Victoria Sobota (Franklin) and Kelly Lynch (Seton Keough).
