Sophomore center midfielder Eliza Harris scored both goals as Friends knocked off St. Paul's School for Girls, 2-1, in a key Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference match on Wednesday afternoon.

Both goals were assisted by freshman Kailie Saudek.

Harris' first goal gave the Quakers (9-1) a lead that evaporated when the Gators (6-3) countered on a goal by sophomore Liza Clarke. Junior Nevi Fernandez assisted the equalizer.

Friends went ahead for good in the 53rd minute when Harris took another feed from Saudek and deposited the ball past St. Paul's sophomore keeper Tiffany McKee, whose brilliant diving save two minutes earlier kept the score deadlocked.

In between those plays, Gator freshman Gigi Gambino's shot caromed off the crossbar and offerings from sophomore Kristyn Giulio and freshman Julia Braig carried well over the net guarded by Quaker senior Aislinn Cook.

"This was a big win for us," said Friends coach Nick Gill, whose team has yet to play the two teams ahead of the Quakers in the standings, two-time defending champion Bryn Mawr and Severn.

St. Paul's has lost to each of those teams by a goal.
