For the first 22 minutes, Friends forward Weezie Foster showed she was the best player on the field against visiting Annapolis Area Christian School on Thursday afternoon.
The junior had several outstanding scoring opportunities, including a disallowed goal and two point-blank shots stopped by senior keeper Val Schultz.
Finally, with about six minutes remaining in the first half, Foster sent a line-drive shot to the right corner to get the Quakers rolling to a 4-1 victory.
Foster finished with three goals in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference opener for both schools.
AACS coach Sharon Wiley is glad she won't have to see Foster again unless the two teams eventually meet in the playoffs in October.
"She is fast and has killer hits," said Wiley, whose team was outshot, 24-4. "Its really hard to defend her."
It was a great debut for Friends first-year coach Sarah Palmer, who played on the school's 2006 championship team.
Palmer's Quakers beat an Eagles team that had won the last three IAAM C Conference titles and started the season 3-0.
Foster and the Quakers constantly pressureed AACS defenders Hannah Young, Sarah Wolek and Annie Mitchell.
After AACS tied it, 1-1, Foster beat senior Schultz (17 saves) again to the right corner with 1:28 left in the first half.
Foster notched her third goal a minute into the second half and Ellie Pollack added the Quakers' fourth goal.
Foster said she loved her team's intensity.
"We played hard to the end, which was great," she said. "I think its easy to let up."
