Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Center takes aim at cancer awareness

The Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Center, 12301 Dulaney Valley Road, will host its first annual "Shoot for the Cure" fundraiser, a two-day event to raise money for the Maryland affiliate of Susan G. Koman for the Cure.

The event, which will mark the first time Maryland's chapter of the breast cancer foundation received funds from a shooting range, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2.

"We are really proud to have innovated this kind of fundraiser," said Randy Ringgold, president of the Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Center. "We've arranged for volunteer instructors to be there all weekend, so anyone can participate, regardless of skill.

"This is the beginning of a new tradition for us."

Fifty percent of entry fees will be donated to Komen Maryland, and participants can also solicit pledges from friends, family and colleagues, with all money pledged going to the breast cancer foundation.

Shooters of all experience and skill can attend, and guns will be provided to those who need one.
